eBar Billiards™ is the next step in the evolution of a classic game. While there is a similarity to the game, Bar Billiards, there are differences that bring the classic game into the 21st Century as eBar Billiards. The history of Bar Billiards seems to have begun with Bagatelle, the pub game that began its popularity in 1770. Bagatelle remains a popular game around the world.
It isn't actually known how Bar Billiards originated, but in the early 1930's David Gill, an Englishman, observed a game called Russian Billiards being played in Belgium. Gill convinced the English manufacturer, Jelkes, to make a version of the game which he called 'Bar Billiards'. The game emerged in Jersey, UK, in 1933, and their game was administered by the Jersey Licence Victuallers League. English pubs liked the tables, and other manufacturers soon got in on the act, notably Sams Brothers. The first pub league was created in Oxford in 1936, and shortly afterwards leagues sprang up around England. After World War II, a governing body was formed called the All-England Bar Billiards Association. The AEBBA now supervises the game across 18 counties, mainly in the Southern England. This body has worked closely with the Jersey Licence Victuallers League, despite variations in their respective games. The British open, the largest competition in the Bar Billiards calendar, continues to be played in Jersey each year.
Now, after all that history, there is the new eBar Billiards™ with electronic scoring, sound and integral light. Be part of the history and give eBar Billiards™ a try.
